Program Objective

The Program for Supporting Autistic Social Entrepreneurs provides disability service providers, social enterprise support organisations, and business advisors with the knowledge and skills to assist autistic owned and led social enterprises.  

The Program's Units

The Program consists of three units:

Unit 1

What is Autism?

​In Unit 1 participants will:

• identify and understand characteristics of autistm,
  
• realise the negative impact masking has on autistic individuals, and
  
• identify conditions that frequently occur alongside autism.

Unit 2

The Opportunity of Autistic Social Entrepreneurship

In Unit 2 participants will:

• understand the challenge of autistic unemployment,
  
• identify the defining features of social enterprises,
  
• understand the benefits of autistic individuals starting social enterprises, and
  
• appreciate why social enterprises that focus on providing services to autistic individuals need to have autistic people in leadership positions.

Unit 3

Enabling Autistic Social Entrepreneurship

​In Unit 3 participants will:

• understand the complexity of autistic unemployment and why a systems approach is required to address autistic unemployment, and
• be able to identify accommodations that social enterprise and autism support organisations can make to their activities, events, and operations so that autistic social entrepreneurs can be better supported.
